AFTER — new Bradford White tank and expansion tank, set level on gravel | New Bradford White water heater with expansion tank on a level gravel pad in an Angier, NC crawlspace |

The story

What the customer called about

A leaking water heater in the crawlspace.

What we found

The old water heater was badly deteriorated and leaking. It couldn't be saved.

What we couldn't know until we opened it up

The vapor barrier had been torn, and the water heater wasn't sitting on level ground.

The options we gave them

The old tank wasn't salvageable, so we quoted a replacement.

What they chose, and why

The new water heater.

Before, during and after

Photos from the job itself

The water heater in this Angier crawlspace was badly corroded and leaking. We replaced it with a new tank and expansion tank, leveled the ground under it with gravel, and repaired the torn vapor barrier.

The work

  • Removed the old water heater, which meant taking out the crawlspace door frame to get it through
  • Installed a new water heater and a new expansion tank
  • Added gravel to give the heater a stable, level base
  • Repaired the torn vapor barrier and cleaned up the area
