What we do in Lillington

Pick the problem, and we'll take it from there

Every service below is handled by ARC's own licensed plumbers — no subcontractors, no mystery vans. Each link goes to the full page for that service, with details on how the work is done.

Water Heaters

Cold shower this morning? Repair and same-visit diagnosis for tank water heaters, and replacement with posted flat-rate prices and a 5-year ARC warranty. Tank brands we install: Bradford White, Rheem, State, A.O. Smith, Essency and Rinnai.

Drain Cleaning

Slow or blocked drains cleared, with a camera inspection when the same drain keeps clogging, so you find out why instead of paying to clear it again. Outside the Town's sewer lines, most of Lillington is on septic: we clear the drain line to the tank (lid included), but we don't service septic tanks or drain fields — that's a licensed septic contractor's job.

Emergency Plumbing

Burst pipes don't check the clock. Our emergency line is answered 24/7 by an answering service and passed straight to the on-call plumber, who calls you back. The after-hours fee is quoted before anyone is dispatched — details below.

Toilets, Faucets & Fixtures

Running or clogged toilets, dripping faucets, garbage disposals and shower valves. A toilet that runs all night is pouring money down itself — try our free 30-minute toilet leak test first, then we repair what's worth repairing and replace what isn't.

Sewer Lines

Camera inspections, repairs and full replacements by conventional excavation. Not sure whether a backup is yours or the utility's to fix? See who owns what in Lillington.

Water Lines

Repair and replacement of the water service line between the meter and your house (new lines in PEX-A), plus pressure problems, yard leaks and leaks inside the house.

Repiping & Polybutylene

Whole-house repiping with PEX-A, and polybutylene identification for homes from the 1980s and '90s — see the housing note below for how much of Lillington that covers.

Tankless Water Heaters

Rinnai and Navien tankless units installed and repaired, including tank-to-tankless conversions. Outdoor units need working freeze protection in a cold snap — ask us why.

Gas Lines

Gas piping for ranges, water heaters, grills, fireplaces and standby generators, plus customer-side leak repairs once the gas utility has made the scene safe. Tell us the appliance and where it's going.

Commercial Plumbing

Service and maintenance for Lillington businesses, restaurants, churches and property managers, coordinated around your access and hours. Backflow-certified.

Worth knowing in Lillington

Lillington is two towns in one: pre-1980 downtown, post-2010 everywhere else

Lillington's housing skips a generation. About 31% of its homes were built before 1980 — the streets around the courthouse and Main Street — while roughly 46% were built in 2010 or later, in the subdivisions that have gone up since the county seat started growing. Only about 15% date from 1980–1999, the Census bracket that covers most of the polybutylene (PB) years (roughly 1978 to the mid-’90s). Build year flags homes worth checking; it doesn’t tell you which ones have PB.

That split tells a plumber a lot: the old side calls about supply lines, drains and crawlspace water heaters; the new side calls when the builder-grade equipment reaches the end of its first life.

Pre-1980 homes near downtown

Galvanized steel supply lines that rust shut from the inside, cast-iron and clay drains, water heaters in crawlspaces. A PEX-A repipe typically takes 2–4 days for a 3-bed/2-bath home with a working bathroom every night; we cut drywall cleanly but don't patch or paint.

2010-and-newer subdivisions

First water heaters give out in the 10–15-year window; builder-grade toilets, disposals and plastic shutoff valves usually go first. We repair what's worth repairing, replace what isn't, and say which is which in writing.

The 1980s–'90s slice

Small in Lillington, but if your home is from those years, PB is worth a look: usually gray, stamped “PB2110”. The repiping page shows how to check — or we'll check during any visit, free.

Housing figures: U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020–2024, table B25034, town of Lillington (1,326 housing units; small town, so the margins are wide).

Lillington-specific

Who's on the hook for which pipe in Lillington

Lillington has two utilities in one town: the Town of Lillington Public Works serves some addresses (not all), and the rest are Harnett Regional Water customers or on a well and septic. The Town says it plainly: it works on what's in the right-of-way, and it can't flush anything between the meter box and your home. Here's the split.

Water and sewer responsibility in and around Lillington
The pipeWhose it is
Water mains, hydrants and the meter box in the street or right-of-wayThe Town of Lillington (Town customers) or Harnett Regional Water (county customers)
The water service line from the meter box to the houseYou (the property owner) — the Town "cannot flush any lines between the meter box and your home"; HRW says it's "the customer's responsibility to make repairs on their side"
The sewer main in the streetThe Town of Lillington
The sewer line from your house out to the public main (the lateral)Usually you — the Town says it works only in the right-of-way, so everything on your side of it is yours; it hasn't published a rule for the stretch under the street, so the Town decides that on the day
Septic tank and drain field (no public sewer)You — permitted and inspected by Harnett County Environmental Health (910-893-7547, Lillington)

Who to call first. Water in the street or at the meter box, or sewage at a manhole: Town of Lillington at 910-893-2654 in business hours; after hours the Town routes utility emergencies through the Harnett County Sheriff's office at 910-893-9111, which reaches the on-call technician. Harnett Regional Water customers: 910-893-7575. Wet spot between the meter box and the house, a backup that's only in your yard, or anything inside: that's us — (919) 888-3500. Fixed a leak on your side? Keep our invoice: the Town's posted policy allows one adjustment per year — on the sewer charge if you're a Town sewer customer, or a reduced water rate if you aren't — with a plumber's invoice or a materials receipt as proof; it's dated 2019, so ask Town Hall what's current. Harnett Regional Water customers get one per 12 months with proof of repair.

If the problem turns out to be on your side, our drain cleaning, sewer line and water line pages explain how we handle it — including a camera inspection so you see what's in the pipe before deciding anything.

What to expect

How a visit works

  1. You call, a person answers

During business hours — Monday to Friday, 8 to 5 — our own dispatcher answers every call: a real person, in our office, who knows exactly where Lillington is. Tell them what the plumbing is doing and they'll set up your visit.

  2. We look before we quote

A licensed plumber comes out, checks the actual problem, and explains what they found. In-home quotes during business hours are free — no trip charge, no estimate fee.

  3. The price, in writing, first

You get the recommendation, the reason and the price in writing before any work starts. Ask questions, think it over, compare — there's no countdown clock.

Nights, weekends and holidays

Plumbing emergencies have a real talent for Saturday nights. Our emergency line is answered 24/7 by an answering service, which sends your information straight to the on-call technician — they call you back.

After-hours, weekend and holiday emergencies carry a flat $365 dispatch fee. It covers sending a technician to your property, it's confirmed with you before anyone is dispatched, and it's additional to any repair charges — the repair itself is priced before work starts. During normal business hours there's no emergency fee.

Permits and inspections

ARC can pull all permits and call in inspections when needed. Inside the town limits that's the Town of Lillington Planning & Inspections office at 102 East Front Street (910-893-2654), which issues its own trade permits (there's an online trade-permit form through the Town's Permit Center); outside the limits it's Harnett County Central Permitting at 420 McKinney Parkway (910-893-7525). Lillington's own code spells out the state's like-for-like water heater exemption, so a straight replacement by a licensed plumber doesn't need one — details in the FAQ. We'll tell you up front whether your job needs one.

Where we work

All of Lillington, from Fuquay-Varina

Our shop is at 2406 Waco Commercial Court in Fuquay-Varina; Lillington is straight down US-401, past the county line and across the Cape Fear. We cover the whole town — downtown around the courthouse, the newer subdivisions along US-421 and NC-210, and the county roads toward Buies Creek. Customers request on-site service; there's no walk-in counter (the trucks are the showroom).

Lillington and Angier are our two Harnett County towns, and both sit right next to home base. We also cover Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, Apex, Cary and Raleigh, and the rest of Wake County.

If you smell gas, don't stay to troubleshoot. Leave immediately and warn others to stay away. From a safe place, call 911 and Enbridge Gas North Carolina at 877-776-2427. Don't flip light switches, use phones, garage door openers or flashlights inside, don't try to turn gas valves on or off, and don't start nearby vehicles — sparks can ignite gas. (Steps per Enbridge Gas North Carolina, checked September 2026.)

Once the utility has made the scene safe, we repair customer-side gas line leaks — call (919) 888-3500.

Questions Lillington customers ask

Frequently asked questions

Do you charge to come out and give a price?

No. In-home quotes during business hours are free — no trip charge, no estimate fee, no obligation to buy. The only call-out fee we charge is the flat $365 dispatch fee for after-hours, weekend and holiday emergencies, and that's confirmed with you before anyone is sent out.

Lillington is in Harnett County. Do you actually come down here?

Yes — Lillington and Angier are our two Harnett towns, and both are next door to our Fuquay-Varina shop. Lillington is a straight run down US-401 for us.

Who do I call when a sewer backs up in Lillington?

Start with where it is. Sewage at a manhole or in the street: the Town of Lillington (910-893-2654, or 910-893-9111 after hours) — the main is theirs. Your yard, your cleanout or inside the house: the Town says it can't work past the right-of-way, and the line from the house to the main is the homeowner's, so that's us. We put a camera in first so you see where the blockage actually is. On a septic system, we'll clear the drain line to the tank; the tank and field need a licensed septic contractor, and Harnett County Environmental Health decides whether a repair permit is needed.

Will I have water during a repipe?

You'll have at least one working bathroom every night — we know, it's the first thing everyone asks. A typical 3-bed/2-bath whole-house repipe takes 2–4 days of plumbing work, depending on levels and crawlspace access. The repiping page walks through the whole process, including how drywall is handled.

Do I get the price before you start?

Yes — in writing, after the technician has actually looked at the problem. If anything changes mid-job, you approve the change before the work continues. Our technicians aren't paid based on how much you spend.

Do you handle the permit?

ARC can pull all permits and call in inspections when needed. Inside Lillington that's the Town's Planning & Inspections office on East Front Street; outside the limits it's Harnett County Central Permitting on McKinney Parkway. We'll tell you up front whether your job needs one, and you won't have to coordinate with the inspections office yourself. One exception worth knowing: North Carolina law doesn't require a plumbing permit for a straight like-for-like water heater replacement in a one- or two-family home when a licensed plumbing contractor does the work and checks it at completion — same fuel, same location, same capacity, same venting and piping, no higher energy input. Change any of those (a tank-to-tankless conversion, a move, a bigger unit, electric to gas) and a permit is back on the table; we'll tell you which case yours is.
