The story
What the customer called about
A leak in the ceiling.
What we found
We opened the ceiling to find the source. A bad toilet flange upstairs was leaking every time the toilet was flushed.
What we couldn't know until we opened it up
What was causing the leak from upstairs. The old ABS drain under the toilet had been set at an angle, and that had cracked the flange.
The options we gave them
Replace the flange and fix the piping: cut out the angled section of old ABS, replace it with new PVC, install a new flange and reset the toilet.
What they chose, and why
They went ahead with the full fix.
